Grant Woods served as Arizona’s Attorney General from 1991-1999. He led the ballot among all candidates in the 1990 and 1994 elections. Mr. Woods was President of the Conference of Western Attorneys General and chaired the Civil Rights and Supreme Court committees for the National Association of Attorneys General. He was selected by his peers as the nation’s top attorney general in 1995. He successfully argued Lewis v. Casey before the United States Supreme Court. He was one of the principal architects of the states’ lawsuits against the tobacco companies and was a key negotiator in the resulting largest civil settlement in history.
Grant and his wife Marlene are big supporters of many organizations and programs that support the many challenges that confront today’s youth. Some of their favorite organizations include the Children’s Museum of Phoenix, the East Valley Boys & Girls Club (especially the Grant Woods Branch in Mesa), and grass roots tennis programs that bring underprivileged youth to participate in free clinics with professional players. Through their charity work, the Woods’ impact is being felt all over the state.
The Woods family is proud to announce a new permanent exhibit at the Phoenix Children’s exhibit honoring Arizona’s construction families and dedicated to the builders of tomorrow.
Building Big allows our future contractors, architects, designers, and tradesmen to use their imagination and skills while constructing something new each time they visit the museum.
Arizona was built by many great construction families over the years. We are pleased to recognize these families and to help shape those who will build even bigger and better things in the future.
We hope you will stop by the Children’s Museum and see the exhibit in person. You can see a recent story on the exhibit by clicking the attachment.
